Plein Air Workshop - September 2016
Torgesen is teaching a workshop for the second year at her studio and mountain acreage in Pocatello. There will be canopied protection while the students paint stunning still life set ups among the trees and aspens, costumed models, glorious sunsets, and enjoy demonstrations and attention from a knowledgeable and experienced instructor. Art Takes Manhatten - June 7, 2016
Torgesen exhibited her work with an exclusive group of ten painters chosen by Art Takes Manhatten in a gallery in the Chelsea art district in Manhatten. The paintings are 4 x 6 foot landscapes done in Torgesen’s multilayered texture driven style. “The Dolomites” won the International Grand Prize for landscape sponsored by International Artist Magazine in 2014 and was featured in that magazine plus American Art Collector. “The Creation” exhibited in the Springville Museum of Art in 2015.
Watercolor Society Show - June 3, 2016
Torgesen Murdock, Pocatello resident, received the top award in the juried Idaho Watercolor Society Show which opened June 3rd in the SUB Gallery on the campus of Boise State University.
Her full sheet watercolor entitled “Soaring” was chosen from among the fifty paintings exhibited, to win the Juror’s Choice Award for the top prize of $500. The juror, Jean Pedersen, AWS, all the way from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, commented that she loved the circular movement and flow of the painting and all the subtle and varied textures achieved by the artist.
The show will be on exhibit in the Boise State Student Union Gallery through the month of June and then will travel to Northern Idaho, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls.
